Sorry, but people that gaing cash by doing this are not poor.
They an buy many accounts per month.

Anet has decided to make that rule, and that rule is for all, with no exceptions.

err...let me introduce you to the walls in my house then because they are probably interested in what your saying...i might follow them by banging my head against them

ITS NOT BLACK AND WHITE......right or wrong whatever you want to call it. there are circumstances....the people who gain the cash are rich ill grant you that. but the people who actually do the donkey work are pretty poor. thats their reason.

Fitz....people work rdecently hard to keep control of Cavalon and House. Having been in Sins and now in any, I can tell you that we deserve any control we have of those places.

People in this game work hard for their gold. The ones that doubt are mostly 11 year old kids, and they are a minority.

I want this thread closed because it's ridiculous. And you accuse me of gold selling? GG, very nice flame.

Fitz, I think your making a big deal out of almost nothing. I love GW, and I ignore the bots, and the high prices. I have my own arsenal of weapons that I got via endgame and a few drops. I don't have overly elaborate/expensive armor. If you don't want to spend hours farming, do what I do: don't. Simple.

Oh and I almost forgot, do you have something against the Chinese? You keep talking about them doing "bad stuff in sweatshops" (your going to paraphrase that and attempt to make me sound dumb) or something like that. If your just using that to make a point, may I remind you, fellow American, that AMERICA does equally bad things with their money.

If your gonna complain about "gold selling Ebay terrorists" lets complain about other things shall we? How bout how most of us eat our weight in calories each day? How bout our school system degenerating like a warrior with 4 Illusion mesmers on him? How bout, oh I don't know, the oil crisis? Global Warming?

Just deal with it. I do. If this is some "serious crime" get of the forums and petition the White House. Last time I checked, the CIA and FBI don't monitor Guru (though they might, i dont know)
I probably sound like an ignorant "terrorist" to you, but I'm not trying to offend you or anything of the sort. I just think you have gone too far. And besides, this argument is obviously not going anywhere.

I'll finish up with saying if you can prove the money coming from gold selling is being laundered to drug dealers, then I'll aid you with this...crusade

I get more lag when there is a festival on if im honest.
I wasn't referring to lag in this instance so pardon the confusion. There are a LOT of times when I come into a town or outpost to look for a group or TRY and sell something only to have the town overrun with bots. I know that the party search enables you to look across districts for a party but it is just VERY annoying when there is only one district. Here you are with a town FULL of players and 95% end up being bots. It simply drives me nuts.

I say that to customers i work with...im going as fast as i can with one pair of hands. I CAN go slower if youd like? They soon see the reasoning.
I totally agree with you on this too. It is so easy to overlook the fact that Anet IS fairly small AND working on a few big projects at the moment that would take up the bulk of their time. With GWEN and GW2 alone they have their plates and hands full I am sure. I must confess that even I become a little impatient about the bots, but that is mainly because I notice a rather large increase in them compared to just a few months ago.

I used to work in retail so I know all about impatient customers. Most of them just don't see the bigger picture but instead are focused on their immediate situation. That trap is all too easy to fall into. I guess it would just help for everyone to be a bit more patient about this. Shortly after GWEN comes out I am sure Anet will have a bit more time to work on the bot problem.

Maybe they could hire me as a bot killer. I can sit in towns all day and click the giant BOOT button. OH how I would love that!

Ahh now there you got a good point . AND alongside all the new party search changes it can get comical to look for your party too. I didnt think of it from that side, but yeah true I suppose it could get a bit awash with names!

Hey Fitz, I wanna show you a movie that changed my life. It'll change your view about all of this

www.zeitgeistmovie.com

Go here and THEN talk to me about ebay terrorists...

Uh movies 2 hours long, give it time to buffer until you watch it...i would suggest letting it buffer overnight

A forum manager is gonna yell at me for this post, im sure of it

WOW....JUST WOW Lurch....

Painful some of it, as i was there in Gulf War 1 and i recognise some of the images.
Enlightening...I hadnt realised the combinations and similarities of all the "saviours"
The astrological comparisons of the sun....just.....brilliant...

Speechless. Ive never seen this film and I am a truly agnostic freethinking spirit..This just....WOW...
thanks. Ill be putting that on some forums i write to

I wondered about the conspiracies around this, and ya know its kind of difficult to see around what was explained in the film. I honestly sat here with my jaw wide open going "Oh my..no way....wow...gasp" and all manner of other things.
Fantastic film....just inspiring!

Default the fix that will never happen

ok i have read the comments posted above and the answer is not loot scaling, nor is it in making some semi sentient program to decide whom is or not a bot.The fix is so simple and here it is: be like the cops and have a "sting" team. A player or players with admin privileges that can delete accounts. Have this player set up multiple different ads on e-bay selling gold and buying gold. After the transaction is complete the admin player deletes the account of the violator without warning. After deleting every violater he/she can find on a daily basis. The general population would be so scared they wouldn't even probably e-bay or google for said sites anymore in FEAR of loosing their account. The Admin player could even post there own web page advertising cheap gold. This is how they "bust" hookers and dopers. The reason this will never happen is it is to cost ineffective for a problem that they truly don't care about.Sure it makes me mad to see bots/and people spamming sites that sell gold but I do NOT violate the EULA, so it truly matters not to me.Also i would like to add if ya dont like to farm for gold/greens start or get in a good guild that will help ya or give/sell ya cheaply the items ya want.(btw this takes time to earn respect and real in game friends.)
nuf said.

Ive actually started playing a MMO called Rappelz. Its new to me, probably not to the community. Now, on there they something called Auto Trap

basically its like your sort of suggestion but an in game "sting" covert ...thing. Ie, if you attack it a lot for more than 30 seconds you get a wrath penalty...which reduces your spell damage (i think)..Keep doing it and you get sent to the abyss..(wherever that is) and get wrath of higher proportion on you. So kinda like a bot farmer jail....
the only way out of the abyss is to get a GM to get you out which can take quite a few days apparently.
Wouldn't something like this be beneficial to the game?

First things. To your comments in the OP, I get it. I also disagree. I don’t want Anet to break their economy—imaginary or otherwise—over what is a perceived threat to morality. I don't use eBay; thats how I fight botters, by denying them my money.

Now that’s said:

You can be 100% right and be 100% wrong at the same time. Consider your stance in your posts and how not to offend when you want to make an argument. Also, consider where and what you are arguing about.

I don’t mean to sound condescending Fitz but…look at yourself in the mirror—hard and long. You are “right” enough in your points that you could continue arguing forever and no one would ever be able to get a good grip against your points...but you present it in such a perverse and wrong-headed way that no one will ever concede defeat against your logic; merely point out your flaws and walk away from you when you won’t stop talking. its called winning the battle but losing the war. Keep fighting this battle the way you are and...well, the cliche speaks for itself.

And pick your battles. If you want to fight terrorism and push for a new better moral agenda, look outside the video gaming community. Look for the people who are doing things that are REALLY wrong; you don’t have to create a theory that this “thing” might be used perversely. There are too many things BEING used perversely for people to go looking for more. Join the Peace Corps and try to make lives better. Visit a children’s burn ward and read to them. There are considerably better things for you to be doing with your time than trying to fight society’s evils from the anonymity of GW and GWGuru.

And after hearing that, if you still can’t drop this stance of yours or the railing against us for its sake…seek professional help. Please; this kind of fervor for a VIDEO GAME worries me. I worry very much for you right now. It is that kind of emotional investment that makes me think of these people who kill themselves over what a perceived slight or injustice that is—in truth—something utterly trivial.

Please; take a break from GW. A few weeks or months off to get some perspective. And if you can’t…get help soon.

GGs

The only solution against bots is making botting absolutely worthless, without affecting normal (30min..6hours)/day average players.

Other than that would be a waste of time.

Ahh Rappelz...fun game, while it lasts...but yeah i didnt think of auto trap...it was a block thing if i remember right...and any HUMAN could distinguish it from a fake creature...but a BOT couldn't...very good idea, GW should implement it
